Born In Blood Mafia Chronicles is a book series that tells us the story of mafia families. Born into one of the leading Mob families in Chicago, Aria struggles to find her own path in a world where no choices are given. When she was just fifteen years old, her parents decided to betroth her to a man called Luca Vitielo, who is also known as The Vice. Luca is the first born son of a mafia boss and the betrothal was for the purposes of ensuring that there was peace between two families.

When she turns eighteen, Aria is now dreading her wedding day because she is being asked to marry a person that she barely knows. What makes her even more terrified is the fact that Luca was given the nickname ‘The Vice’ because he crushed a man’s neck using his hands. Even though he has good looks and is a very eligible bachelor who is also rich and has charisma, society girls who are enchanted by him don’t have any clue about the kind of person that he is. That bad boy image that Luca radiates is not a game because beneath his striking grey eyes lurks blood and killings.

In Aria’s world, a handsome face is usually hiding a monster within, someone who can kill just as easily as kiss someone. So she plans to run from home leaving everything behind in order to avoid marrying Luca. However, she dreads never being able to see her family anymore. So despite her fears, she decides not to run and makes up her mind to marry Luca. She lives among predators and she has come to learn that even the most heartless bastards still have some humanity and she is planning to make her husband fall in love with her.

This first book in the Born In Blood Mafia Chronicles is called “Bound by Honor”, and it is the story of a vicious man who is finding acceptance from an innocent woman in spite of their different backgrounds. The good thing about the book is the fact that the author has a very organized writing style and the reader will find it easy reading. There are many different characters in the story, and we also have many different families. This makes it difficult to know who belongs in which family but the author has made it easy because of her organized writing style.

The tragedy of the story is the fact that an innocent woman is marrying a person who doesn’t respect marriage and he even cheats on her days before their wedding. Aria’s father seems like a human trafficker who is selling his daughter to the mafia. Luca justifies his cheating on the fact that Aria is not always interested in sex. He doesn’t even make efforts to know Aria during their engagement, which shows you that he is not that interested in her. This is a story about a criminal society and the horror of finding yourself part of it just because of blood relations.

The second book in the Born In Blood Mafia Chronicles is “Bound by Duty”. This is a story about Dante Cavallaro whose wife died a few years back. On the verge of becoming the youngest head in the history of the Chicago mafia, Dante needs a new wife and Valentina was chosen for the role. The intriguing thing is that this woman’s husband also died, but theirs was a marriage of convenience. She married a man called Antonio for the sole purpose of hiding the truth that the man was gay.

After her husband dies, Valentina keeps her late husband’s secret because she wanted to respect the dead and also protect herself. However, now that her marriage to Dante is looming, Valentina fears that her body of lies are threatening to unravel. But her worries are unfounded because Dante is not very interested in finding much about her and he ignores her. Now she becomes confused and indignant and she is planning to make Dante fall in love with her even though his heart belongs to a dead woman.

In Bound by Duty, you want the arranged marriage to work but then you become furious because of Dante’s cold attitude towards his wife. However, the tables are turned when he finally falls in love with a woman who is very stubborn and is determined to win his heart. But you also feel for Dante because he is still grieving after losing the love of his life and that is why he thinks that his marriage is just a formality. He doesn’t have the intention of falling in love again and he doesn’t want to put himself in a vulnerable position. He sees love as a weakness and he can’t afford that luxury.

For some time, Dante and Valentina are living parallel lives because he hardly shows any interest in her. In the meantime, she is working hard to make him interested in her and she finally succeeds in her quest. Valentina is a tenacious woman and this is an admirable quality in her. She doesn’t give up even when the odds are against her. Another admirable character in her is the fact that she chose to keep her late husband’s secret in order to honor his memory. She also wants to make her marriage work even when her new husband is determined to ignore her.

Dante has a less appealing character. He is frigid and doesn’t want to acknowledge the new wife that he has just married. However, he soon finds himself confessing his feelings because of the hard work that his wife puts into ensuring that the marriage worked. Even though there are mob characters in the story, this is a book about love. Even though Dante is a brooding character, he also shows his vulnerable side, which makes him all the more human. The emotional walls that he has put up soon crumble because of the tireless efforts of the woman that he marries. She is then rewarded when she is able to raise a family with her new husband.
