Summer Beach Series
Summer Beach is a romance series by Jan Moran. The series takes you on a journey to Summer Beach, where an old house with many secrets awaits. As the owner of this house embraces her new acquisition, she will discover many things about herself and the history of the house. In the series, you will interact with the area mayor, who is also the protagonist’s love interest and a good part of the local communities. Friendships will be made on these pages, many secrets will be unearthed, and a good number of characters will be pushed out of their comfort zones.
Seabreeze Inn
Seabreeze Inn comes first in the Summer Beach series. The book stars Ivy Bay, a recently widowed woman still saddened by her husband’s passing. Ivy is shocked to discover that her late husband had bought a beach house with all their savings. The last thing this woman needs is a money problem at her age and after such a devastating loss. Ivy enlists the help of a realtor to help her sell the house. However, the realtor tells her that it would take over a year to find someone to buy the house. With an art teacher’s salary, Ivy is sure that she cannot survive a whole year without another source of income. What would Ivy live on the whole year? What can she do to alleviate her financial position?
With nothing holding her back home, Ivy decides to go to Summer Beach to recreate her life there. With her is her jilted sister, who is also in need of a fresh start. The duo immediately falls in love with Las Brisas, but the historical home needs many renovations and holds many secrets. While turning it into a bed-and-breakfast would have generated the income Ivy so much needed, she quickly learns that there is an existing zoning issue that prevented her from doing this. As she pushes for a zoning variance, Ivy decides to start a wedding planning business and rent the rooms to the wedding crowd. Will the mayor accept Ivy’s proposal?
Bennett Dylan was involved in a campaign that prevented Ivy’s late husband from rezoning the land containing his beach house into a high-rise resort. However, he and Ivy always had a great relationship, and a bed-and-breakfast on her land doesn’t sound like a bad idea. Now that Ivy is in town, these two will be seeing more of each other, and old feelings start coming to the surface. Can Dylan risk loving another woman a decade after his wife’s death? Will Ivy respond to his advances and promise never to break his heart even if the land issue doesn’t go as she expected? Read this intriguing story for these and more.
Seabreeze Inn is a sweet romance story that is perfect if you are looking for a summer read. This beach saga will take you to the sun-soaked Summer Beach, where the protagonist finds herself after losing her husband. As Ivy works to salvage her livelihood, she bumps into her old crush, and it is hard for the duo to hide their feelings from each other. Ivy’s parents have something to tell her and the sister, and while they anticipate the worst, they are gland that it’s not all bad news. If you enjoy light and breezy romance stories, this book is for you.
Seabreeze Summer
Seabreeze Summer comes second in the Summer Beach series. Ivy and her sister, Shelly, are still working through the renovations in their rambling beach house. Thanks to their online ads, some of the extra rooms already have tenants. When the Summer Beach ridgetop catches fire, some residents are forced out of their homes, and they all go to Las Brisas, even those who cannot afford the rent. With a full house, Ivy and her sister have their hands full. Fortunately, their niece Poppy is there to help, and the mayor will do everything possible to keep everyone comfortable. Their guests are a mix of quirky and lovable. Neighbors turn into friends, and attractions begin while old feuds are revisited.
Even the mayor rents a room in the house, and there is no telling what will happen between Ivy and Dylan as the summer heat continues to rise. As the relationship between these old friends continues to grow, Ivy will have to make hard choices. Her estranged daughter Sunny is in town, and she has to consider her welfare first. She is also determined to continue with her campaign to turn the house into a bed-and-breakfast while the mayor wants it to remain a community center. Dylan also notes that as his feelings for Ivy deepen, memories of his late wife and her battle with illness come to the surface.
In the height of summer, a documentary filmmaker visits Las Brisas aiming to reconstruct this old house’s history. While the filmmaker digs deep into the former owner’s life, yet another secret is revealed, and it is big enough to change Ivy’s life. Her house has its fair share of treasures hidden in different rooms and areas. Once again, the FBI shows up, and it seems that the house still has more secrets in store for its owners. As Ivy struggles with major decisions, Dylan will be dealing with matters of the heart. Fortunately, there is a celebrity wedding to cheer everyone up. Can Dylan risk giving up on his balanced life for a love he is not sure will last? Does he even have the strength to love again?
Seabreeze Summer is a fantastic book with a brilliant writing style and a beautiful storyline. Common themes include family, love, and friendship. All characters, including the cranky ones, are lovable, and it is fun watching them as they evolve. The heartwarming friendships in the story will leave you with a smile. There is a thief amongst the people living in Ivy’s house, which adds to the activities going on in this story. If you enjoy romance stories with a bit of action, this book is perfect.
