Jake Tapper is an American published author as well as a media correspondent and producer. He resides in the capital of the nation, Washington D.C.
Jake was born in New York on March 12, 1969. He is married to his wife Jennifer and they have two kids together. Jake has served as a senior correspondent to the White House for ABC News and joined the CNN Network in January of 2013. This would see the debut of his hour-long weekday program, The Lead with Jake Tapper, in March 2013.
Jake would also host the State of the Union show on the network, which aired on Sunday morning and became effective in June of 2015. A reporter with experience, he has been covering events in D.C. for over a dozen years and counting. The author appears on his own web show called “Political Punch with Jake Tapper”, a show that gives viewers the inside scoop at the White House. He has also made appearances on television shows such as “Nightline” and “Good Morning America”.
Before he worked at ABC News, Jake also was a correspondent for other publications. He served as a national correspondent for the website Salon and wrote as a columnist for TALK Magazine. He has also contributed pieces to many different publications and has written articles for the New York Times Magazine, Los Angeles Times, The New Yorker, Washington Post, The Weekly Standard, and more.
The author has conducted interviews with many names on subjects from policy to politics. Along the way, he has covered events in the United States and the world in addition to Washington. His show The Lead covers everything from breaking news to national headlines and topics such as sports, world events, politics, money, pop culture, and more. He has also participated in coverage of the election (CNN in 2016) and served as moderator for two debates during the Presidential Primary. Tapper also provided network coverage on election night and projection analysis.
The author enjoyed success with the release of his book The Outpost. The novel is the story of American soldiers taking on the Taliban and it was a New York Times best seller. It was adapted into a feature-length film released in 2019 by the same name starring Scott Eastwood and Orlando Bloom, directed by Rod Lurie.
Jake Tapper is the creator and the writer of the Charlie and Margaret “Marder” Mystery series of fictional novels. This series first began with the publication of The Hellfire Club in 2018.
