“The Lost Harbor, Alaska” series is a set of novels by Jennifer Bernard, an American bestselling author who is known for her contemporary and romance genres. She has also written in the comedy and humor genres. The author went to Harvard and upon graduating started work as a news promo producer. She has said that growing up she was a huge lover of romance novels which is perhaps why she decided to pursue a career as an author. Seeking to find true love, she moved to Alaska where she met and married her now husband. Apart from her comedy and romance novels, she also writes erotica novels under a pseudonym. Since she is a practitioner of Ashtanga yoga she has been various places including Thailand, Hawaii and India. When she is not practicing yoga or writing, she can be found eating hazelnuts, meditating, hiking and spending time with her children and husband.
Jennifer Bernard took a lot of time to find her professional calling in writing. As a child, she grew up in a chaotic family alongside her four siblings. She was the daughter of a mother who was a poet and a father that was a college professor. Her parents encouraged her love for writing and reading romance novels and would usually bring her all manner of romance books. Some of her favorite novels during this time were the works of the likes of Nora Roberts, Victoria Holt, William Shakespeare, and Elizabeth Phillips. As a teenager, she got her History and Literature degree as she needed to pursue creative writing. Upon graduation, she got a job in New York with Macmillan Publishing where she was charged with updating encyclopedias. Needing to get out of the rut she was in, she started working on screenplays and not long after she got a job as a promo writer and moved to Los Angeles. Jennifer made her debut with “The Fireman Who Loved Me,” the first novel of the “Bachelor Fireman” series that she published in 2012.
The “Lost Harbor, Alaska” series of novels is a fascinating set of romantic novels set in Alaska. In the debut novel of the series, the lead is Megan Miller who is the mother of a child prodigy and scientist that just moved to Lost Harbor. She had experienced horrific trauma working at her previous job and moved to Alaska hoping for a new life. In Alaska she meets Lucas Holt who is back in town following the death of his father. He hopes to sell his father’s business and then go back to Colorado where he has a very successful business. But now he thinks there is something bizarre about the death of his father and wants to stay to investigate. In the second novel of the series Zoe Bellini and Pedric Jeffers were teens that had their firsts with each other. Immediately after their first kiss their world had gone haywire and they had been torn apart. When Padric’s family was ruined they had to leave and Zoe was left heartbroken believing she would never see him again. But then some teenagers invite him to Lost Harbor and the two have a chance to rekindle what they had started. In the third novel of the series, Theo Bellini is volunteering on Christmas Eve as there are packages that need to be delivered across the town. He never imagined that in one of the packages he would find his former high school girlfriend Natalie Desroches who is now working as a weather newscaster on TV.
In “Mine Until Moonrise,” the first novel of the “Lost Harbor, Alaska” series Megan Miller just cannot seem to find any peace with Lucas Holt the boat captain. They are polar opposites as he is from an Alaskan farm while she is a city girl. He is all about chartering his boat for big money while she loves nature tours more. She finds him annoying and arrogant but cannot fight the wild attraction she feels for him. She is in the small town of Lost Harbor that she believes is a perfect place to recover from a devastating and very personal tragedy but now has to deal with a hot captain she has a feud with. Lucas Holt is only back in the town to set his father’s affairs straight after which he intends to go back to his business in Colorado. But he could not leave once he was done as he believes there is something very strange about his father’s death. Maybe he has also been taken by the sassy scientist who moved into town that he finds as stubborn as she is sexy. The best foreplay he has ever had since he was a teenager is arguing with Megan. But then a dangerous storm common in Lost Harbor churns up the waters and what had been a row transforms into a fervent affair.
“Yours Since Yesterday” opens to Zoe Bellini’s learning that her best friend Padric who she had just kissed would be leaving town. All her dreams were shattered when he left and she has not had much luck in the fifteen years since. She now has a pizza shop which is to some extent successful unlike her record with relationships. She does not expect anything would change even when Padric comes back. He had better luck than her and is now a nationally famous rock star. She is not naïve enough to think they could just pick up from where they had left off. However, her body does not agree with her mind and she desperately wants to try. Padric never thought he would ever go back to the small town he had left after a huge scandal. But then he had received a letter from an anonymous person telling him about Zoe his childhood friend. Despite the pressure from his manager not to go, he decides to head back to Lost Harbor to see the woman that had been in his lyrics and in his mind ever since he left. Once he sees her in the flesh he knows he has to do everything in his power to make her his. But he still has enemies in town that would do all in their power to get him to leave.
“Stormy with a Chance of Christmas” the third novel of the series is the story of Theo. He is back in the small town following his divorce. He intends to help his mother who had a stroke a few weeks past. He also intends to help his siblings run the family business as he has business acumen. Meanwhile, Natalie who is an employee of a meteorological company in Chicago bribed a shipping company to allow her to travel in a package. She wants to get home fast to surprise her ailing and aging grandmother that has not seen her in months. But the delivery truck she is in breaks down before it arrives in Lost Harbor. A resident named Theo gets the contract to finish delivering the packages only to find his ex girlfriend hiding in the last package.
