Stone writes stories in which the normal comforts, conveniences, and rules no longer exist. What she loves best and what she writes are stories of strong and brave warriors who keep improving and never back down from facing their fears.
Kyla loves to practice her shooting skills and shop for the latest gadgetry. She also loves to travel to remote locations across the world and skydive.
When she is not writing or reading at home, she can be found enjoying some chocolate and coffee while lounging in her pajamas. “Beneath the Skin,” her debut novel was published in 2016 and the author has gone on to become one of the most prolific in the genre.
Kyla Stone spent much of her childhood in Michigan even though she recently moved to Atlanta. She has said that she started writing as a five-year-old and has never stopped ever since, even though it took quite a while to become published.
The only time she was not writing was when she took a break to take care of her young family. However, she was back on the horse as soon as the youngest joined school.
She has said that she writes to change other people’s lives but also to transmit emotions such as excitement, fear, and pain. This means that she is passionate about writing enjoyable and engaging novels that result in an emotional reaction in people.
For her literary inspiration, she cites the likes of the Passage, Ready Player One, The Road, and Hunger Games.
The “Edge of Collapse” series of novels are refreshing and unpretentious works that provide both historical substance and poetic and lyrical lines. The author is an expert at combining truth and beauty in an effective and elegant manner.
The series opens to everything grinding to a halt following an EMP attack. It opens on Christmas Eve where families are left in the darkness when the lights go out, communications break down, and vehicles stop working.
At the heart of it all is Liam Coleman, a man who finds himself in Chicago when the attack happens. When his phone stops working and their car is among hundreds that crash he begins to suspect that this is something greater than a local power outage.
Things get bad really fast but he whips together a group of men and women and they band together to try to survive one of the worst catastrophes to ever hit planet Earth.
Over the course of the series, it follows the stories of several of their friends to showcase their different strategies for surviving in a world that has gone to the dogs.
“Edge of Collapse” the first novel of the “Edge of Collapse” series of novels is an interesting apocalyptic novel. At the opening of the series, the power grid has been destroyed by an EMP attack that plunges the US into chaos as there is no electricity, cars, or phones.
It seems the only person rejoicing about the turn of events is Hannah Sheridan. She had been kept imprisoned by a psychopathic man and the EMP had destroyed the electric components of the lock of her cell and set her free.
She comes out of her cell pretty much fine, even if a little tired and flustered into a world deep in the grip of an unprecedented winter. Now that she is free, she intends to thrive regardless of what the new world might throw at her.
Meanwhile, a reclusive former soldier named Coleman is trying to cope with a world in which he has lost everything. He once upon a time thought he was prepared to deal with any calamity until the EMP proved him wrong.
Most people have learned that rural Michigan could be a safer haven but now need to traverse more than 200 miles of harsh terrain to get there.
“Edge of Madness” the second novel of the “Edge of Collapse” series is Hannah and Liam’s story.
Things had gotten very bad following the EMP disaster adding to the pain of Hannah going missing a few weeks before. Noah and Milo scrambled to pick up the pieces but it was not going to be easy.
Milo has some medical issues and with the land still in the grip of a nasty winter, things could only get worse. He had once been a happy and well-adjusted child who would go to the local resort with his parents but that is now but a dream.
Milo and Noah had been at the resort having fun when the EMP struck and everything screeched to a halt. Being the good man he was, Noah tried as much as he could to help anyone that was stranded. Working with a young man from the nearest town they manage to free almost everyone at the resort.
But only the geeky teenager knows that the failure of everything at the resort is a result of an EMP attack. Their world is about to change forever and Noah may need to work on the many skills he had learned over the years to protect and feed his loved ones.
“Edge of Darkness” by Kyla Stone is the third novel of the “Edge of Collapse” series. At the opening of the novel, Liam and Hannah are recovering following a brutal attack on them while they were studying at the library. But their friend Ghost had sustained horrific injuries protecting Hannah and Pike and now urgently needs treatment.
Life has completely changed for Milo and Noah Liam and Hannah as their community seems to be changing for the worse. The Carter stronghold just out of town is harboring some very nasty characters that have recently committed a massacre at a church.
Noah and the police officers working under him are determined to eliminate the criminals threatening their community. Meanwhile, some militia and members of the police force are in a rage and want to do unspeakable things to the criminals and this makes Noah question his morals and theirs.
How far are he and the others willing to go to protect their community from a vicious gang.

“Edge of Collapse” is the first novel in the “Edge of Collapse” series and was released in the year 2020. A super EMP destroys the power grid of the nation during the deepest winter on record. No cars or phones. No electricity either. And worst of all: no heat. The country gets plunged right into instant chaos. However for Hannah Sheridan (twenty-six years old) it is the absolute best day of her life. For the previous five years, she has been held captive by this sadistic psychopath, until the EMP releases the lock on her prison.
Hannah exits her underground cell into the hostile winter landscape without a way to call for help, no working vehicle for her to drive, and she is armed with just her own determination to survive and just the clothes on her back. Liam Coleman, a cynical loner and ex-soldier, is headed nowhere fast. He believed that he was prepared for any disaster, until the EMP took everything that he had ever cared about in just a matter of seconds. He comes across this desperate and fierce woman that will die without his aid, he is forced to make a tough choice.
One hundred perilous and frozen miles stand between them and Hannah’s hometown located in rural Michigan, and the son and husband that believe she is dead. However the desperate people, the lack of power, and the treacherous elements are not the sole threats. Hannah’s captor is not just going to let her go that easily. He will hunt her to the very ends of the earth and even beyond. In the process, he will destroy anything and anybody that gets in his way. For she’s got something that he wants. She is nine months pregnant, with his kid.
Hannah is a fantastic character, strong yet broken and is more than willing to fight, and despite her appearing weak at first, is actually a lot tougher. It is a gripping and fast paced read that you cannot put down and Kyla’s prose is on point throughout. There is plenty of action that keeps you right on the edge of your seat.

On the fifth anniversary of Hannah, his wife’s disappearance, Noah Sheridan (a small town deputy) takes young son Milo to this local ski resort for some much needed father-son bonding time.
In just a blink of an eye, the power grid goes out. As do the resort’s brand new generators. Milo and Noah find they are trapped on this chairlift some thirty feet above the ground. Help isn’t coming for them. Night is on its way, and with it will be the brutal cold. Getting off before hypothermia sets in is just the start.
When the impending blizzard cuts the town off from the rest of civilization, it is going to take everything that Noah has in order to keep his friends and family alive. The only things that are more dangerous than the wrath of mother nature are the desperate people that are willing to do anything to survive.

With the town running out of fuel and food, and the cold is just as brutal as ever, they are forced to make compromises that they might place them in much greater danger. When the country goes fully dark, the ordinary people find themselves facing the end of the world as they know it. As society collapses right before their eyes, they will have to risk everything to keep the people they love and their home safe.
“Edge of Anarchy” is the fourth novel in the “Edge of Collapse” series and was released in the year 2020. What lines would you cross to protect your loved ones? Just three weeks after the nation’s power grid goes down, and chaos has been reigning. Food supplies have all but dried up. Fuel runs low. The brutal and bleak winter is relentless.
Fall Creek has built a shaky peace, however the cost for safety proves to be higher than some are willing to pay. The town is just a powder keg waiting to blow up. Home is finally within Hannah’s reach. However it is not going to be like anything she has been expecting.
“Edge of Defiance” is the fifth novel in the “Edge of Collapse” series and was released in the year 2020. Amid all of the chaos, tyranny rises. Freedom is demanding a price. While the United States unravels, Fall Creek, Michigan fights to survive. Liam, Hannah, and all of the others have endured through ruthless foes and the brutal winter. However the threat now has never been greater.
Enemies from within have seized control of the town, including what is left of the food. Overpowered, isolated, and near starvation, the townsfolk are faced with a desperate decision. In order to be free, Fall Creek might have to sacrifice more than they ever believed possible.
