AJ Rivers is an American thriller and mystery author that is best known for writing the “Emma Griffin FBI Mystery” series. She grew up in a small town and spent much of her days enthralled by mystery movies and novels. She showed signs of being a storyteller from a very young age as she had to make many of her own adventures. Since she was very much involved in media involving mysteries, she grew up fantasizing about one day becoming a crime fighter and crime solver. Rivers particularly loved Sherlock Holmes and asserts that he was one of her biggest inspirations for her novels. However, she would change her mind in college as she found a life in the trenches of law enforcement more gruesome than what her constitution could take. She thus made the decision to combine her love for mysteries and her love for storytelling into one by becoming an author.
Rivers wrote her debut novel “The Girl in Cabin 13” in 2019 and since then has never looked back become one of the most prolific authors in the genre. By 2020 she had more than eight titles in the “Emma Griffin FBI Mystery” series and one free-standing novel titled “Gone Woman.” AJ Rivers has said that much of her inspiration comes from her passion for writing novels full of suspense and researching true crime stories that come with thrilling twists and turns. She was inspired to write her debut novel when she was reading an article about a woman that disappeared from her hometown never to be found again. She started asking what, why, and who questions, which led her to start writing down the twisted and dark story about the missing woman and the quest for justice for her. Her novels are known for their romance, suspense, and mystery elements. When she not working on her next mystery thriller, she can be found hiking with her dog or spending time with her husband.
AJ Rivers’ “The Girl in Cabin 13” opens to Emma finding a corpse on her front yard. What is even more creepy is that her name is scrawled on the dead body’s hand. this opens the door to uncovering a bizarre clue to a mystery that has dogged her life ever since she was a child. She is an undercover agent in the small town of Feathered Nest, where she had been charged with resolving the mystery of several disappearances that had left residents terrified. She believes she can find anything no matter how deep it is buried, even though events from her childhood may impact her effectiveness. As a child, her father had gone missing, her boyfriend had disappeared and her mother died mysteriously. Obsessed about resolving these mysteries, she had joined the Federal Bureau of Investigations with the hope of finding the truth about her childhood tragedies. But now she has what could be her biggest case yet as she feels she is being watched while working on Cabin 13. She had heard a soft knock on her door and opened it to find her name scrawled on a note in the hand of a dead man. She is still haunted by the events from the past and now needs to banish her demons if she is to ever have hope of solving the current mystery. It seems the idyllic town and the woods on its outskirts have murderous and dark secrets. She has to unearth them or else risk becoming a victim to them too.
Rivers’ “The Girl That Vanished” opens to the disappearance of a ten-year-old girl while coming back home from camp. Things get even worse when Emma is informed that another child who is known to her has also disappeared. All her life, she has been haunted by tragedies, death and disappearances and obsessed with finding the truth behind it all, she had joined the FBI. It has been several months since she had resolved the mysteries in the small town of Feather Nest and decided to take a well needed holiday. But then she got a call from the sheriff that would change everything and derail all her plans. Young girls are disappearing from home and the numbers are slowly but surely rising with each passing day. Emma is forced to shelve her plans and head back home to deal with the demons from her past. But then she gets a mysterious package and she feels that she is being stalked and watched. In a town where nothing is ever as it seems, someone has been getting too close for comfort and she needs to find out who.
“The Girl in the Manor” by AJ Rivers tells the story of the sudden death of a girl on a farm and the seemingly connected death of a young child. Could it have been just a coincidence or could there be something more sinister at play? A beautiful young woman named Everly Zara was found dead in the bedroom of the house she shares with her fiancé on a huge manor. Her ankles are bound, and she is hanging naked. Someone took the trouble to scrawl some words on the body which is bizarre as he could simply have left a note. It is shocking news in a small town where everybody knows everybody. Could she have been so full of guilt and sadness from the death of the little boy that she took her own life? But the death is not as straightforward as one may think at first glance even if she was accused of such a terrible act. The more Emma investigates, the more realizes there is more to the case than she initially thought. It is not long before secrets from her past come back to haunt her and she realizes that her life is in danger unless she can unravel the truth. In the small town, nothing is ever as it seems and with a haunting past and a very complex mystery, she feels as if she is losing her mind. How far is she willing to go to find out what happened in her past and also that of deceased Everly Zara. While everything else is uncertain she is sure that one the truth comes to light, everything in her life will change forever.

I believe I’ve read all of your books! Oh, I have to read the Librarian, just checked, yes. Please keep them coming! I love the way you craft a novel, and the continuation is incredible! I don’t know how you do it, but you are the best! I can’t wait for more! Sincerely, Chrissy
There seems to be something missing between 21 (twisted end) and 22 (deadly secrets). The end of 21 has Dean calling Emma about a blackout and dead woman…22 says nothing about it.
I don’t know if you have found out yet, but the end of 21 is actually the lead in to the Dean series of books. That story picks up there.
Where does The Woman at the Masked Gala fit in the order of AJ Rivers books?
That’s the first book in the Ava James FBI Mystery series, and apparently an alternate title for Ava James and the Ivy Grove. I’ve updated the listing. Cheers
Im frustrated. I am now reading book II in the “Girl” series but my library does not have any of the others. Suggestions? I do not wish to buy them all.
Only options are to request the library add them – or get Kindle Unlimited as they appear to be on there and go through them that way.
A J Just read my first book (The Woman in the Woods) by you . Thoroughly enjoyed it. I have a question about on of the characters. What is Xavier’s back story. A lot was said about him, but implying that the reader should know.? Thank you
Xavier is first introduced in the 9th book of the emma griffin series titled the girl and the secret society Xaviers character is explained more in both the 9,10 and 11th book
I finished book 6 and started #7. Did I miss something? Emma didn’t know her father was alive in book 6 but he’s alive and living in DC in book 7. The uncle was still playing games in book 6 but book 7 he’s apparently been jailed and then escaped. In book 6 Emma and Sam were just a couple in book 7 they are married. Did I miss something in between book 6 and book 7.
Potential Spoilers Ahead:
I don’t know what book you read but Emma’s father was never declared dead. He was just missing, and as far as Emma and Sam’s relationship they were still dating up until the 10th book where in the end, Emma asked Sam to marry her.
Would like to read more of Dean Steele, can you please tell me the names of them? I can not find them. Thanks
Only the one book currently which is listed above.
Are these books okay for a girl the age of twelve? They sound like something she’d enjoy, mystery, action, but I would like to know if they’re appropriate. Thanks.
Yes, they are pretty wholesome.
Just finished all Emma 21 books. Please when is 22 coming out. Starting Ava books today
I would recommend looking up a Emma Griffin retro series and read those before you read book 22. Yes, I know that doesn’t really make a lot of sense. Book 22 in the Emma Griffin series comes out May 19, 2023, but in the fifth book of a Emma, Griffin retro series, called the girl on the retreat that book ends with something sort of shocking that leads into a Emma Griffin Book 22, if that makes sense
Hi, I just needed to ask you a question. I just finished reading book two
In the Ava series. Now I am reading The Girl and the last Sleepover.
So I see it is about Emma again. So are you going back and forth now.

The series is amazing, read all 17 books in just under 3 weeks because I had to wait for Christmas Day for The Girl and The Silent Night to release. Hoping for a new book soon!!
Is this too much for a 11 year old to read? She looks at Criminal Minds all the time. Just was trying to figure out if it was too much for her to process.
I’m getting ready to read book 14 in the series, The Girl and the Dragon’s Island! LOVE this series, praying this isn’t the end!!
