Regina Scott is an American author who has always been writing. She owes a lot of her life to literature and began writing novels in third grade. Those novels were the work of a child though and she needed to learn a bit more about things like plot and sentence structure before she could become a published author and sell her first Regency romance novel.
Her first novel ended up being The Unflappable Miss Fairchild that was published in March of 1998. That book would become the first book in the Uncommon Courtship series which were very successful for her. She is a bit of a history nerd which helps her to write these novels with a level of authenticity. She is a member of the Romance Writers of America.
She has done a lot of research such as dressing as a Regency dandy, learning to fence, driven four-in-hand, and more. She has an extensive collection of costumes ranging from historical to fantasy in nature. Regina also keeps a blog called NineteenTeen that is great for fans of her work and history lovers as well. The blog covers recent books she’s read, historical pieces from her collection of Regency era antiques, and blogs like her tours of old houses.
Regina Scott is married and lives with her family in the Puget Sound area of Washington State in the shadow of Mount Rainier, one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Regina attended college in the area as she went to the University of Washington. Regina and her husband have two sons. Her parents were both writers at heart in their own right and used it in their vocations as her mother was a teacher and her father was an electrical technician.
Regina has also delved into writing Christian Romance novels as well which began in 2011 with her The Irresistible Earl. Her level of historical Christian romance books has been well received as she is the two-time winner of the RT Book Reviews Reviewer’s Choice award for best historical Christian romance. The books receiving those awards were The Heiress’s Homecoming in 2013 and Would-Be Wilderness Wife in 2015.
“The Unflappable Miss Fairchild” is the first book in the Uncommon Courtship series. The book introduces us to Anne Fairchild who is living in Regency England. She knows the rules of engagement in England at this time and the proper way that a young lady should seek a husband. Her two elderly aunts have groomed her to make the best possible match to allow her to stave off poverty. She knows what to do and how to act, but one meeting with the dashing Chas Prestwick has her thinking about throwing all that she knows out the window.
Chas is the black sheep of his family and he is far from the proper gentleman that his family wishes him to be. He not only rejects the high society, but takes a level of joy in shocking society. He loves making wild wagers and entering into reckless carriage races. He’s everything Anne’s aunts warned her against, but underneath Chas’ bravado lies a man with a bruised and lonely heart. A man who has given up on love. Anne is everything he is not, but their attraction is undeniable and she will look to convince him to take his greatest risk of all – a risk on a love and a fulfilling life with her.
Another great series by Regina Scott is the Spy Matchmaker series of books. “The Husband Mission” is the first book in the sweet, clean Regency series. The book introduces us to Katherine Collins. She is a woman on a mission to find a husband for her stepsister Constance. She is financially beholden to her stepsister who is due to inherit a large fortune if she is able to get married in the next six weeks. The only problem is that the prospects for a husband are slim at this time, but Katherine is determined to make things happen. She presents him with Alexander Wescott who appears to be the perfect husband.
Wescott is a handsome and wealthy viscount that Katherine has been spying on to make sure that he’s what her stepsister needs. Alexander doesn’t know why he’s being watched, but he knows that Katherine is behind it. He had wanted to join the England’s spymaster, but was rejected for service and start a nursery. He knows that he should be searching for a wife, but the allure of international espionage is just too strong. He’ll find that a woman who is up for a little espionage may be just what he needs. It’s not what Katherine intended when she started watching, but it might be just what she needs.
The RT Book Reviews Reviewer’s Choice award winning “The Heiress’s Homecoming” is one of Regina Scott’s best books. The story focuses on Samantha Everard who is faced with quite the dilemma. In order to keep her childhood home, she must find a husband and marry by her twenty-fifth birthday. Despite the ultimatum, Samantha is not going to marry on a whim and will only marry for love even if means losing her fortune. She’s prepared to say goodbye to Dallsten Manor, her home, when she runs into her neighbor, the handsome and disapproving William Wentworth, Earl of Kendrick.
William has always been certain that the Everard family is nothing but trouble as he believes them to be scandalous, but he finds that Samantha is changing his mind. Samantha has a kind heart and a level of feistiness that is intriguing him and he’s starting to care about her predicament more than he’d imagine. There are secrets surrounding her, secrets he’d like to find the answers to as well. As Samantha returns to say goodbye to her childhood home, William finds himself wishing to persuade her that she can find a new home – a home with him.
