Author Lynda Suzanne Robinson is an American writer. She was born in Amarillo, Texas in the year 1951. She writes mystery novels under the name Lynda S. Robinson and romance under the name Suzanne Robinson. Lynda got a Doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin in Anthropology with a specialty in the sub discipline of archaeology.

Lynda has done work in the field in both the United States and in the Middle East, work in exhibits of ancient art, and museum research.

Lynda finished her education just to find out that she had “burned out” on academia. Her husband encouraged her to pursue a writing career, after he saw an article noting how much writers make. So she sat down at her computer to write five pages of a story, and she knew right then that writing fiction was what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. She uses the knowledge she gained in grad school and the field work to pen novels the authenticity from which has gotten acclaimed by fans and critics alike.

She wanted to write about ancient Egypt, but was told by everybody in publishing that ancient Egypt is not a period that sells. So she set a historical romance in ancient Egypt, which was bought by Bantam. She hadn’t thought too much beyond her first sale, since she was a novice writer, but Bantam wanted another romance novel, one that was set in another period.

When she began writing, she knew she would have to concentrate on writing historical tales because this is what interested her the most. Ancient Egypt was her first love and the period she had read the most about. She believes that writing contemporary mysteries and including the scientific and technical stuff would be much tougher for her to do.

Lynda finds that she enjoys writing both mysteries and romances. She finds that she couldn’t write a successful mystery or romance if she didn’t enjoy the work. Both genres require a great deal of expertise to write them. Anybody that thinks it is easy to write a romance novel has never actually sat down and tried writing one.

Her writing day lasts until the movie inside her head is finished or until she runs out of time, there is no set amount of time she spends working. A typical day for her begins with a walk in the park with her dogs, and she gets some great plotting and characterization done. Then she has to get back home in order to tackle the business side of writing which is followed by lunch.

Here, begins the sacred time of writing, the first draft phase of the writer’s job. When writing a first draft, she writes on a computer, but notes are taken by hand. Since she is very organized from the start, she does not do a whole lot of rewriting. Outlines she has written, for book contracts, helps take care a lot of the work before she even begins writing her novel.

“Murder in the Place of Anubis” is the first novel in the “Lord Meren” series and was released in the year 1994. Who dared to desecrate a sacred place of embalming with a murdered corpse? Pharaoh Tutankhamun has his chief investigator, Lord Meren, to figure it out quickly, before power-mad priests are able to use the incident to undermine Tut’s royal authority.

Everybody is immediately a suspect, since the body belongs to Hormin, notorious scribe, who was hated by everyone who knew him. Although, Lord Meren is not just a courtier, but the Ears and Eyes of the living god. In the horrifying Place of Anubis, a place where some unquiet spirits live, with in the sunny city of Thebes, Hormin’s sons and his gorgeous concubine plan.

Within the royal court, where all kinds of intrigues abound, Lord Meren tracks his quarry, and peels back the secrets of slaves and nobles in his hunt for the truth. More important is Meren’s responsibility to keep the young Pharaoh safe from enemies, who are not much further away than the length of a dagger.

“Murder At the God’s Gate” is the second novel in the “Lord Meren” series and was released in the year 1995. A priest dies in a rather mysterious fall off of a statue of Tutankhamun. Many consider this death to be a fateful one for the fourteen year old Pharaoh as well as his reign. The Hittites have already come to Egypt’s borders, and the enemies of the deceased hectic Pharaoh Akhenaten have moved their hatred to the young Pharaoh.

Hidden by the luxury of the court of Thebes lie viciousness, murder, and evil. Not Lord Meren, who is the confidential inquiry agent that has to see to the boy king’s safety, is even able to name the master plotters. Until the enemies of the living god are taken out, neither his soul, nor body is safe from their lethal poison.

“Murder At the Feast of Rejoicing” is the third novel in the “Lord Meren” series and was released in the year 1995. Foul play stalks King Tut’s court once again. Lord Meren’s beautiful cousin-in-law ruins his homecoming celebration. The guy who is “the Ears and Eyes of the Pharaoh Tutankhamun” dives into a stunning mystery that might threaten his most vital mission for the boy king.

“Eater of Souls” is the fourth novel in the “Lord Meren” series and was released in the year 1997. Somebody, or something, is killing innocent people on the night streets in the royal town of Memphis. The citizens are afraid and believe that it is the work of the eater of souls, called the Devourer, who is one of the most fearsome gods in the Egyptian pantheon. Even Meren finds himself baffled by these horrific crimes. The victims all are killed in a grisly manner.

Is the criminal really the Devourer, risen up from the netherworld, or just a mortal? Between the truth and Lord Meren lie some dangerous mysteries, in the city’s back alleys and in the bosom of his noble family.
