Lara Temple is an English author of historical romance books best known for her Sinful Sinclairs and Wild Lord and Innocent Ladies. Her life has been about changes; she has traveled across three continents and gone through the military, philosophy student, Wall Street, wife, and mom. She has been writing stories for as long as she can remember.
The Duke’s Unexpected Bride
In her standalone novel, Lara Temple has woven a charming and entertaining story in which hero and heroine find themselves suddenly betrothed and forced to find a way to reconcile their divergent personalities. Miss Sophie Trevelyan is enjoying her stay away from her family home living. Her eccentric aunt is ever on the bed, and so there’s little for Sophie to do. However, she’s enjoying having her time and space for a change. To earn her aunt’s approval, Sophie decides to take care of her aunt’s obese dog by taking him out of the house for a walk across the garden opposite her aunt’s house. Unfortunately, she loses her grip, and the dog runs right into the path of her aunt’s fashionable neighbors out for a stroll. She chats happily away, giving them an explanation that she is and why she is in the garden, and she makes her way back to her aunt’s place.
Max, serving as Duke of Harcourt is both interested and also irritated by Sophie’s lack of respect, finding her friendliness and her lack of any trace of deceit refreshing. Bound by the promise he made to his father to marry by before his 31st birthday, Max needs a wife with good behaviors, someone who’ll never make him feel unease, a woman who is the complete opposite of his ex-fiancé.
His previous engagement ended badly, and Max has eschewed himself from anyone or anything that smacks of recklessness and impulsiveness. A day later, when he sees Sophie with the fat dog in the garden sketching some drawings, he finds himself stopping by to speak with her. The following day, he meets Sophia in the street heading to the Royal Academy exhibition, and he offers to escort her there. The two haven’t been properly introduced, and he had no other reason to chat with her other than for her security and safety. He doesn’t know whether he should be annoyed or excited by her conversation and her disregard for proper behavior. Having seen some of her drawings, Max now already knows that she is a truly talented artist. As their discussions take a turn from horrible to enjoyable, he discovers that she is witty, intelligent, and insightful. He enjoys her company, until when the two are approached by Lord Wivenhoe, who flirts with Sophie-something that annoys Max.
When rumors spread across town that he’d been seen escorting an unknown lady, he scolds himself for his impetuous behavior. But there’s something about Sophie that he can’t seem to get over with, something making him thinks about her all day long. Things prove even more complicated when Lord Wivenhoe begin approaching Sophie despite Max having warned him to keep his distance. When Sophie is placed in a not so good situation, Max announces publicly that he is engaged to her- ready for marriage. On the one hand, Max is saddened by his hasty behavior he’d thought he left behind years ago and on the other, he is happy knowing that he’s betrothed to a woman he loves.
Lara Temple has woven a regency romance novel set to rocket your pulse and have you syncope over characters that deserve the reader undivided attention. It’s complex, sexy, and also funny and endearing. This regency romance story advocates appreciating ourselves for being different and loving ourselves for who we are. The main character, Max Harcourt, is the type of man who allows their other better half to feel free to be themselves. He is a winner, a composed cool guy with dark secrets that keep him in total control of his life. But this total control is all lost when the eccentric and young spirited woman Sophie brings him to knees.
The Earl’s Irresistible Challenge
When Miss Olivia opted to clear her father in law, Henry’s name, she was determined to do whatever it takes to succeed. She had discovered a note that tied Henry to the Sinclairs, and so she summons the Earl of Sinclair named Lucas. Assisting her might prove to be to the advantage of his family as his father has suffered a sordid demise. Lucas wants no share of this puzzle, but Olivia persuades her in more ways than he ever imagined. He expects that her intentions don’t make matters worse for them.
This story is part of spies, romance, and mystery. There is plenty of daggers, tension, and cloak and at times the game of dress up. Olivia is distanced from her family because of the heartbreaking former relationship. Not only is this the case, but she also has information about Lucas’s shamed father. A shame that shattered his family bonds and its alive and kicking through the sibling’s life. She embarks on an investigative journey where she persuades other people o talk while they are disguised. Her cat and staff play a crucial to lure Lucas into what he wants.
The Earl’s Irresistible Challenge is a fantastic and thrilling read that promises to hook you right in from the first page to the last. The dialogue is well crafted to keep you enthralled. Both Olivia and Lucas possess sharp tongues and are quick-witted. The author’s prose is utterly sublime, intoxicating, seductive, and businesslike suited to Lucas and Olivia’s interactions. Olivia is one of the best heroines ever, right from the start; it’s evident that she was raised amongst brothers. Despite this, she subtly manipulates everything she admires or wants without being deceitful or coy. Both Lucas and Olivia have interesting backstories which tie with the suspense. What could have been a simple plea to bring the main characters together turns to be one of the best-crafted plots.
