About B.J. Bourg

The American author of crime and mystery novels, B.J. Bourg is a talented bestselling writer of action packed thrillers that hold the reader on the edge of their seat. Giving them an in-depth story with carefully crafted characters, he is also known for putting a bit of romance in their too, giving it all a multitude of different layers. This has allowed him to become highly prolific within his particular field, with scores of readers worldwide finding something in his work. With an action packed past of his own too, Bourg has managed to incorporate many elements of his own life, lending his stories a visceral sense of realism in the process. Holding both character and story in equally high regard, he manages to really invest both himself and his readers within his stories.

Working in a whole host of different positions, including as a SWAT officer and a police academy instructor, he’s experienced a lot over the years. This has led him to where he currently is today, writing about what he knows and loves, whilst also providing a sense of escapism in the process too. It is this sense of sheer and utter excitement that transports the readers, something that will carry on for a long time to come yet.

Early and Personal Life

Born in Raceland, Los Angeles, Bourg would grow up with a keen fondness for both reading and writing as an art-form. Learning his craft, he would apply himself to it over the years, whilst also undertaking a variety of other active pursuits as well. Working in law enforcement for some time, he would gain a whole wealth of experience, much of which he would use to inspire his many stories to follow. This would also include sports as well, such as boxing and martial arts, followed by turning towards a full-time career in writing, which he continues to this day with his wife and kids.

Writing Career

In time B.J. Bourg would become a highly versatile author, one with a huge amount of range in his writing style. This would also see him become a master of his craft, as he would apply himself to a whole range of different genres, which would include romance, mystery and crime. With his previous list of achievements including professional boxer and martial artist, he is an extremely active individual. It is this sense of focus that he brings to his writing, creating stories with a great deal of precision, allowing them to really come to life in the process.

The Seventh Taking

First published through the ‘Amber Quill Press, LLC’ publishing label, this would originally come out in 2015 on the 5th of April. Working entirely as a stand-alone title, this would not be a part of any series as such, standing completely on its own two feet. This would also allow Bourg to explore other avenues through his writing, creating a story about younger people with an element of mystery to it.

With an air of mystery and intrigue, this sees Bourg on a somewhat different path, as it would feature younger characters. This entails a strong story though, and one filled with mystery and intrigue, investing the reader into its highly rich and immersive story. Knowing exactly where he is guiding the reader throughout, this is him as a confident and adept writer, getting right to the heart of the subject. It would also paint an extremely vivid picture of the great outdoors as well, something which Bourg is obviously very familiar with.

Set in the south-east of Louisiana, this sees eleventh grader Joy Vincent apparently running away from home one summer, up into the Mountains of Tennessee. This then leads Abraham Wilson, who just broke up with her before planning to head off to college, to feel a sense of remorse and guilt. Taking to the mountains with friends, he aims to find her and bring her back, but soon it transpires that there may be more to this than a girl simply running away from home. On the trail they find all manner of danger, but they remain undeterred in their quest to find out what has really happened to Joy. Will they be able to discover the truth behind it all? Can they discover the secret and find Joy? What is behind the seventh taking?

But Not Forever

Initially coming out on the Kindle, this would first be released in 2017 on the 10th of November, arriving to an already eagerly awaiting audience. Setting up the fourth title in the ongoing ‘Clint Wolf Mystery’ series of novels, this would feature the eponymous Police Chief once again. It would also seek to develop his character as well, building upon what came before in the previous novels, whilst taking him in new directions at the same time.

Set in Louisiana, this story really does make the most of its material throughout, taking place in ‘Mechant Loup Police Department’. With the character of Clint Wolf brought to the forefront once more, it really establishes him as a fully three-dimensional personality in his own right. Using a murder mystery as its template too, it manages to effectively intrigue the reader with its interesting premise and story. The world of Louisiana is also well drawn as well, allowing it to effectively become a character in of itself as the novel progresses.

The somewhat reluctant, but extremely driven Police Chief Clint Wolf, realizes that he can’t remove of himself from law enforcement after attempting to hang-up his badge and become a tour guide. Leaving the Louisiana swamps, he returns to his role in the police following the discovery of a man’s body in a canal. Working alongside Police Chief Susan Wilson, the two of them must pool their resources in order to solve the mystery of the dead man. The main mystery surrounding the man is that he appears to have six bullet holes in him, leading to a missing blue truck that could hold many of the answers that they searching for. What could possibly be in it? Can they solve the mystery of the murder of the dead man? Who is gone, but not forever?

Oh my gosh I love all the Clint Wolf series, and almost done with London Carter series. I have never in my 70 yrs of reading I’ve never come across such amazing stories that aren’t all drama and blah blah blah. I feel like I personally know the characters and feel their pain or happiness. Thank you Mr Bourg.
