John Lawrence Reynolds is a Canadian author and ghost writer. He resides in Ontario along with his loving wife. He is a popular and award-winning author.
Reynolds was born in 1939. He is a native of Ontario. As a student, Reynolds attended Westdale Secondary School. He moved on to attend McMaster University, where he studied English in addition to Psychology, graduating with degrees in both of these subjects.
John was not always a professional writer. Before he decided to pursue being an author, he was also engaged in his pursuit of different artistic or creative endeavors on the side. These would include photography as well as directing and music. He was also the host of a radio program that of course went on air live.
You always have to have a job that pays the bills as an artist. John’s main day job was working in advertising. He was good enough at it that he could fund his hobbies on the side and still manage to avoid the starving artist moniker.
J.L. Reynolds is the creator and author of the Joe McGuire mystery series. This series is a lot of fun and is full of twists and turns around every corner. It kicked off in 1989 with the release of the debut novel in printed form. That was followed up by the second novel a year later. Whisper Death made it a trilogy and today there are six books in the series, with Haunted Hearts coming out in 2003.
The first book in the Joe McGuire series by Reynolds is titled The Man Who Murdered God. If you love exciting and tense mystery thrillers, then definitely check out this engaging debut novel in this fictional murder mystery series.
When a local priest has been killed brutally in the very church that he oversees, an entire community is devastated. The priest was beloved by all of the towns people, and now he has been murdered in church of all places. That is not the only religious killing making headlines or to happen, however.
The pattern seems to continue. A monk in a seminary that is supposed to be a sanctuary of peace dies when he is shot up close– too close to ever miss at that type of range. Then there’s the teacher, a Jesuit that was killed at night in the classroom that he teaches in.
Readers get to meet Joe McGuire for the first time in this book. He’s a homicide detective in the Boston area and one of the best detectives that the department has ever had. He’s one part of a great team, and now he’s on the case of a serial killer that seems to want nothing more but to make his mark on the Catholic church.
Now Joe is racing against the clock as he is doing his best to track down a killer that does a really great job of leaving behind absolutely zero clues. With nothing to go off of, McGuire is about to start an investigation that is going to uncover the answers from a case that may go back decades ago.
This is all starting to go way too deep, but Joe has to keep going if he wants to track down the killer and stop him or her for good. He has to catch them if he is going to know for sure that the killer will not be able to take any more victims. Can Joe hurry up and beat the clock to bring a cold blooded murderer to justice? Or is he up against a killer that is far too cunning to ever bring in?
You’re going to have to read the interesting and unique first mystery novel in this series from Reynolds in order to find out! Check out this book by going to your local book store or going online or even seeing if your library has it to catch all of the twists and turns for yourself!
And Leave Her Lay Dying is the intriguing second novel in the Joe McGuire mystery series by acclaimed author John Lawrence Reynolds. If you read the first book in this dynamic series, then you already know what to expect when it comes to this thrilling sequel!
Lieutenant McGuire is a homicide detective. He works in the Boston area to solve crimes. But the job isn’t always fun and games, as he’s quickly finding out. When he mistakenly has an outburst in the middle of a courtroom, Joe finds out that punishment sometimes can fit the crime.
He’s stuck to looking over unsolved murder cases to pay for his outburst. But while this may be a punishment for other cops, Joe is one of the best in his field. He quickly finds a case that intrigues him and it isn’t too long before he’s obsessed with the case.
When a young woman was murdered years ago, the killer was never caught. It seems improbably to assume that he could crack the case now, but what’s to stop him? If he can catch up to the killer in the present day, he may be able to avenge a death that was totally senseless and stop the murderer from taking any more victims.
Joe McGuire doesn’t always work alone, and this time he is going to require some help if he is going to ever get anywhere with this case. This is where he needs the partnership of Ollie Schantz. They used to be a great team, and they still are– even if Ollie isn’t his partner anymore and is now a quadriplegic.
Some things you just can’t forget, and Joe quickly finds that his partner is just as sharp as ever. Together they follow up a lead that ends up taking them to the edge of where Texas and Mexico meet. Down at the border, the two cops are on the trail of a killer and might just be closer than they ever suspected.
Their hunt will take them to the killer’s front door. Can the two of them survive the encounter? Read the second book in the Joe McGuire series to find out.
