Wallace Stroby is a renowned writer and an award winning journalist from America, who is popular for writing crime fiction, thriller, and mystery book. He has written the Crissa Stone and the Harry Rane book series, and is particularly famous for being the author of the former one. Author Stroby was born in the year 1960 in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States, and was brought up in his hometown. He completed his graduation from the Rutgers University and obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism & Mass Media. During his time at the university, Stroby used to write for the Daily Targum of Rutgers and Livingston Medium. Stroby was selected by The Asbury Park Press in 1985 to work as its overnight police reporter. Later, he went on to become the editor of the Sunday edition of the paper. Stroby has also written book reviews for the same.

Author Stroby was honored by the Professional Journalists Society with First-Place awards in 1988 and 1990 to 1992 for writing reviews. After this, Stroby worked as an editor for the Newark Star-Ledger. During the 1980s & 1990s, author Stroby used to contribute to numerous magazines, such as the Reader’s Digest, Filmfax, Esquire Japan, Fangoria, Writer’s Digest, Outre, etc. The first novel that Stroby wrote is called The Barbed Wire Kiss. It came out in 2003 and introduced author Stroby’s first protagonist Harry Rane. Stroby described Harry Rane as a former state trooper from New Jersey, who gets entangled with his wife and a local gangster. After the successful publishing of his first book, author Stroby penned another Harry Rane book in 2005 and then went on to work out a couple of short stories. In 2011, author Stroby created another lead protagonist named Crissa Stone, and introduced her under the label of St Martin Press in the book called Cold Shot To The Heart. Stroby has given the character description of Crissa Stone as that of a professional thief.

After the successful run of the first Crissa Stone book, Stroby developed and published three more books. All the 4 books have been widely praised by various literary journals. Many critics and fellow writers liked Crissa Stone’s character and praised author Stroby for coming up with her unique character description. The novels of Crissa Stone were optioned by the Showtime network in 2013 for adapting them into an original TV series. A pilot script was prepared by the Oscar award winning screenwriter Ted Tally. In addition to writing short stories and full length novels, Stroby has contributed extensively about crime films and film noir of the 1970s America. Even today, he hosts film festivals and screenings. Occasionally, Stroby co-hosts at the Film Festival of Bryant Park Summer in New York City. Author Stroby is the native of New Jersey’s Long Branch and is Jersey Shore’s lifelong resident. He was nominated for a Barry Award in 2004 for his debut book in the category of the Best First Novel. Over the years of his literary career, author Stroby has received many accolades and is respected all over the world for his excellent contributions to literature. All the books of this series show Crissa Stone in the lead role. She is depicted as a professional criminal living in New York City. She has a daughter, who she hopes to get back someday, and a lover who is in prison. Besides Crissa Stone, the other important characters mentioned by Stroby include Eddie, Benny Roth, Joey Dio, Emile Cota. The books’ stories take place in Los Angeles, Detroit, and New York City. The debut book of this series is entitled ‘Cold Shot To the Heart’. It was released by the Minotaur publishers in the year 2011.

At the start of the book’s story, it is shown that Crissa Stone is an excellent thief and a pro in her work. She does not like to work closer to her home, keeps changing the crew for every new job, and never shows any hurry in completing a job. By following these rules, Crissa Stone has managed to prevent herself from getting caught. These rules were taught to her by her lover and mentor, who himself didn’t follow them closely and landed in jail. Crissa didn’t carry out a theft for a long time and seems to desperate to make some money very fast. She learns that a card game is about to be organized in a week’s time and the outcome is in seven figures. She hatches a plan and puts together a crew to carrying out a successful theft. Crissa makes it clear to each crew member that she wants to complete the task smoothly and doesn’t want any problems. And more importantly, it’s a robbery and not murder, so she expects them to keep their cool. However, one member ends up losing his cool and Crissa is forced to give up the plan. Eddie, the Saint, comes to know about Crissa. He is a hit man and a pro like Crissa. Getting released from jail after a long time, Eddie thinks he can team up with Criss and make some money.

Another very good book of this series is known as ‘Shoot the Woman First’. It was also published by Minotaur in 2013. At the beginning of the story of the book, it is depicted that drugs work half million dollar proceeds with 3 guards having automatic weapons. Crissa steals this treasure easily with her dedicated team. But, when the time comes for splitting the money, things go wayward with blazing gun fires. Criss Stone runs for her life with the bag full of cash. She wants to keep her promise of delivering a part of the cash to the family member of one of her dead crew members. She is pursued by the drug lords deadly lieutenants and an ex-cop from Detroit with an agenda of his own. Everybody thinks they can take the money. What they don’t know is that Crissa is not going to give up easily, and will not stop from putting up a fight. Crissa doesn’t care to put her own life in danger as long as she is able to fulfill her promise. And as her pursuers close in, Crissa Stone decides it is time for her to act fast and get rid of the dangers.
