Resurrection Bay is the debut novel in the Caleb Zelic fiction series by Emma Viskic. In this series, readers get to meet the character of Caleb Zelic for the first time. Caleb has been deaf every since he was a child, and as a result, he’s always on the exterior.
Caleb lives on the outside, someone that is always keeping an eye out because he’s never truly interacting. He’s able to observe quite a bit and gets a lot of information out of body language and what people do in certain situations. He can find information in a cough or a smile or even a hug or kiss.
Everything turns upside down one day for Caleb when a friend from his childhood is murdered. Once that happens, Caleb feels a wide range of emotions about the situation. In addition to sadness and guilt, he also feels angry.
When the eyes of suspicion actually have the audacity to turn his way, that does it. Caleb is not only going to find the killer, he’s going to avenge the death of his friend through that and prove his own innocence of this horrible crime as well. Killing his friend would be the last thing that Caleb would ever do– now he just has to prove it.
Caleb is trying to track down the killer, but he’s going to need some help to do it. So he tracks down his friend Frankie, an ex-cop. Frankie is troubled but could help him crack this whole thing wide open. They have just one clue to start them out with, but sometimes one clue is all you need.
Frankie and Caleb are out to track down the killer, and their clue is the word ‘Scott’. That was what his friend texted to Caleb before he died. Could this be the person that murdered his friend? It seems that the killer is way ahead, and at least one step ahead for the entirety of the pursuit.
Check out this crime thriller that is set in an original place located between Resurrection Bay, a small coastal town, and the big city. Caleb will have to face the past in order to find a killer in the present– but can he do it?
Caleb is a protagonist who will not let his deafness keep him from anything– including an independent murder investigation on behalf of his friend. Stubbornly and persistently, Caleb is dedicated to trying to find out the truth. It may cost him everything, but the deeper that Caleb goes, the more that he finds out.
In the end, he may find out the truth. But will it cost him? Can he find the killer before it’s too late and they either strike again or slip away? Read Resurrection Bay by Emma Viskic to find out!
And Fire Came Down is the second novel in Emma Viskic’s Caleb Zelic fiction series. Caleb is someone that has always been used to dealing with the struggles that life throws at him. That includes being deaf and feeling like he’s always on the outside.
He used to have the energy to take on the world. However, the present is a different story. His best friend from childhood is dead, a crushing blow, and he’s not coming back. Even his ex-wife is doing her best to avoid him at all costs. Having nightmares is about the only reliable thing that he has to depend on, as they are the only consistent thing in his life. Even the fridge isn’t always fully stocked.
Caleb finds himself drawn out of a funk and generally becoming more intrigued when someone is killed. A young woman is dead, and now he needs to find out more about her. That detective work is about to lead him right back to the place that he started out from– Resurrection Bay, his hometown.
Currently there’s a lot going on. The whole town is alerted to potential bush fires that may be happening, and racial tensions are burning strong. Caleb is starting to find out things more and more the deeper that he digs.
But could these secrets shockingly ruin any shot he has of getting back with his ex-wife? Could they even threaten his own life? Caleb has a tough time walking away from things. But he’s going to have to sacrifice something along the way.
Can he triumph in the end and once more catch a killer? In this murder mystery book, anything goes. Want to find out what happens? Check out And Fire Came Down, the second novel in the Caleb Zelic series by author Emma Viskic!
