The Red Church is the debut novel in the Sheriff Littlefield series of novel by Scott Nicholson. It is named after a red church in question that had been raised up in the time period of the 1860s. It was then that the church was under the Reverend Wendell McFall’s guidance and he was the one to stand up at the front and deliver sermons that come from God.
McFall preached that there was the existence of a second son of God on the planet. He told his congregation at the church that the goal of this second son was to carefully undo all of the work that Jesus had done on the Earth.
He was so inspired by his own version of this events that he ordered the church to be painted red so that they could successfully call on Jesus to defeat this second son. But the congregation never counted on the fact that McFall may not be entirely sane. Then the preacher goes and sacrifices an actual child to help bring the First Son to come fight the second.
As a result of this action, the congregation strung him up and hung the preacher from the rafters of that very same red church. The church that he had made his home was now the place where he departed from the earthly plane. Now it has been twenty years of that church just being completely empty. No one comes to church on Sundays here any more.
It is now falling steadily into ruin and the church has become a place where pranks are played and vandalism occasionally occurs. Knowing full well about the lore, the church has also become quite the setting for kids to come and tell ghost stories to try and scare each other.
There is even a ghost story that exists about a creature whose home is in the bell tower. The creature is said to live there and is the thing blamed for a murder that happened in the graveyard of the church. Now a new buyer has come into the game; Archer McFall purchased the church.
Now he wants to bring his worshippers here and they are desperate to see the return of the Second Son. But will something happen here that should not? Can the church ever escape from its bad energy, or is this a place where bad things happen? Will the creature attack again? Read this fun debut novel in the series that will bring the thrills from thriller author Scott Nicholson!
Drummer Boy is the second novel in Nicholson’s Littlefield series. The setting is a peak on the Blue Ridge Mountain. It is there that three boys are hanging out near a cave. The cave is called the Jangling Hole, and they hear a snare drum sound coming from deep inside while the wind carries whispered names upon it.
Only one person has a theory about this, and it’s the old man that is at the mountain’s foot. He thinks that developing bulldozers disturbed something inside the mountain and now it is going to get out. When a reporter wants to find out about the supernatural mysteries that have been going on for generations, then the game is on. This reporter might just be ready to find out the truth– or be swallowed up by the very same things that the oral histories speak of.
For Frank Littlefield, this sheriff is haunted by the many failures of the past. They are now standing up and taking a position against an enemy of the public that is more dangerous than any enemy you can imagine because it’s impervious to threats. It will not respond to bullets or a day in court. It cannot be contained.
The town of Titusville is getting ready for a battle on the evening of a reenactment of the Civil War. However, no one has any idea that they may be gearing up for a battle that they never saw coming. When some deserters from the war that were trapped by an avalanche begin to wake up, As they come out of their sleep and start waking up in the dark, this may be a war that will test both sides.
With one kid being the one thing that is standing between the mouth of hell and a town’s destruction, things have just taken a turn for the worse. What will happen in this Southern-flavored horror tale by expert writer Scott Nicholson and find out in this second installment of the Littlefield series of fiction.
