Adele Parks is an English author that writes women’s fiction. Her books have been translated into over two dozen languages and they aim to tackle difficult issues.

Adele Parks comes from Teesside in North-East England. That is where she was born in 1969. As a child of the 70s and 80s, Adele’s life was pretty ordinary. She watched way too much television, and her unhealthy diet left a lot to be desired.

But in those days, parents paid little heed to the activities of their children. Adele eventually attended Leicester University where she studied English and Literature. Writing has been on the author’s mind for as long as she can remember.

With her university days behind her, she eventually went into advertising and then management consultation. But writing was never far from her thoughts. And she eventually achieved her dreams of becoming a published author in 2000 when her first novel, Playing Away, hit the bookshelves.

People took notice immediately. Some publications even set her apart as one of a few dozen faces to watch in the coming decade. And Adele Parks did not disappoint them, proceeding to sell millions of copies of her books and having many professionals in the industry describe her as one of the most beloved authors of women’s fiction in the United Kingdom.

The author aims to publish at least one novel every year and her writing always elevates each title to bestseller status. It is the sort of boon Adele Parks appreciates because she knows many of her colleagues had to struggle for years to achieve a fraction of her success.

The author primarily writes contemporary women’s fiction, though she has also dabbled in the historical fiction genre. Even though Adele’s books are categorized as women’s fiction, she insists that her stories tackle issues that relate to everyone.

That includes themes of love, parenting, honesty, and family. People, regardless of the times they lived, struggle with the same problems. For that reason, Adele is certain in the ability of her books to appeal to the sensibilities of readers in a variety of age ranges.

The author has taken great pains to fight the term ‘Chick-Lit’ especially when it has been applied to her books. Adele believes that the term ‘Chick-Lit’ is sexist because it attempts to demean female authors by suggesting that the contents of their books are somehow inferior.

Adele admits that certain literary works do deserve the term ‘Chick-Lit’, mostly because they typically follow the exploits of single adulterous women looking to snag a man.

However, Adele Parks takes offense with the idea that the term can be used broadly to describe all literary works written by women about women. Adele contends that women are very complex human beings and any book that aims to explore their lives, loves, and friendships should be treated with some respect.

The author’s childhood home was a matriarchy that presented her many opportunities to interact with much older women, not to mention listening in on their stories as they raised up, supported and tore one another down for various reasons.

Adele Parks tries to bring that same drama and complexity to her books. She isn’t too keen on producing contemporary romance novels filled with desperate women engaging in catty exchanges.

Adele believes that her books matter and they should be appreciated as such.

When Adele isn’t creating fiction, she can be found contributing articles and short stories to magazines and newspapers. She can also be found on radio and television programs where she talks about her books and the issues that matter to her.

Adele attributes her considerable visibility to her chatty persona. She is also fairly opinionated. As such, while many of her peers in the publishing arena would rather disappear behind a computer, Adele is out in public making her voice heard.

As an Ambassador for The Reading Agency’s Six Book challenge, the author is very passionate about reading. She uses her influence and resources to spread her passion for the written word.

Adele Parks has been married twice. She has a son.

Alison doesn’t want to believe him but the evidence begins to corroborate his story. If that wasn’t bad enough, the man tells Allison that his wife died of cancer and that Katherine might have inherited it.

Adele Parks takes readers into the lives of both families as they try to reconcile the fact that Katherine and Olivia grew up in the wrong homes and must now determine how they will proceed as a family.

+Young Wives’ Tales

Lucy isn’t happy. She was the perfect wife and mother. But Rose was the perfect mistress and she had the capacity to keep Peter happy in ways that escaped Lucy’s grasp.
