Patricia McLinn is an American author that writes mystery novels and women’s fiction. Patricia’s stories are warm and her characters witty.
+Biography
As a child, Patricia McLinn’s older sister Cathy would sneak her into the Helen M. Plum Memorial Library to read books that her parents would have probably frowned upon. Patricia learned to spell and read fairly early on.
And she was more than keen to try her hand at the advanced sections of her local library, an undertaking that did not disappoint. She came across Charles Dickens and immediately knew that she wanted to become a writer.
Dickens used such descriptive language that his books made Patricia’s spine tingle. She realized early on just how powerful words could be. She also understood that if she wanted to write like Charles Dickens she needed to get immersed in the written word.
The experience elevated her lust for reading to new levels. Most authors generally produce what they know, or at least that is what they are encouraged to do. And considering the trauma and difficulties that her characters encounter, some people have erroneously assumed that Patricia writes from a place of pain and heartache.
But in truth, the author had an amazing childhood. She loved to adventure and try new things, and the many consequences she elicited as a teenager did little to extinguish that adventurous spirit.
Though it seemed like Patricia’s desire for excitement might lead her down a troubled path, she actually completed her high school education normally and eventually moved on to Northwestern University where she got her Bachelor’s Degree in English Composition.
Of course, it didn’t take her long to realize that the job market wasn’t thirsting for English Composition degrees, which is why she followed up the achievement with a Masters in Journalism in her fourth year at Northwestern.
Like most aspiring authors her age, Patricia McLinn understood at the time that her desire to write novels had to take a backseat, at least for a while until she found her financial footing.
So she became a sports writer, a career that actually played a part in preparing the author for the publishing arena because she got to explore the motivations, goals, and conflicts of the personalities about which she wrote.
She worked for publications like the Register Star and the Charlotte Observer before landing a position at the Washington post where her career started to really take off.
It was around that time that Patricia leaned back into her desire to write novels. Her first few experiments didn’t quite hit the mark. Though, Patricia never stopped writing.
Her initial strategy involved coming up with an idea for a story, and then sitting down and writing until she had nothing left to say. She didn’t know if she had a short story or a novel on her hands, but the approach kept her busy until circumstances brought her into contact with the Romance Writers of America Washington D.C. Chapter.
Joining the organization gave her access to a litany of resources with which she was finally able to refine her novel writing abilities.
Patricia McLinn’s first novel came out in 1990 and it garnered her some attention. However, that did not motivate her to become a full-time novelist. And she was doing pretty well at the Washington Post, first as an assignment editor for the sports department, then a copy chief.
She also got an opportunity to work at the publication’s news service. It wasn’t until 2007 that she made the decision to leave the job and move to Kentucky. From there she proceeded to churn out contemporary romance novels.
Her literary efforts have earned her the Washington Romance Writers Outstanding Achievement Award.

Elizabeth Danniher had everything she wanted: a promising career as a television journalist and an ambitious husband.
But then she lost the husband. Some might say it was her fault for not staying young but Elizabeth would vehemently disagree. It didn’t help that her ex also happened to be a powerful news executive who made it his business to frustrate Elizabeth’s every career move.
Elizabeth isn’t too surprised to wake up in Sherman, Wyoming, working for dinky KWMT-TV as a ‘helping out’ reporter.
Because she is tough and determined, not to mention funny, Elizabeth knows she will beat the odds, even though the isolation of Sherman and the fact that she has been discarded to the very edges of her profession make her future prospects seem quite poor.
The last person Elizabeth wants to contend with is Mike Paycik, a former football player turned journalist who only sees Elizabeth as his ticket to the big leagues. When a deputy Sheriff goes missing and rumors of murder begin to circulate, Elizabeth jumps on the case.
She won’t fade into obscurity without a fight regardless of the powerful foes determined to stumble her.
The first book in the ‘Caught Dead in Wyoming’ series follows the exploits of a reporter whose life falls apart after her marriage implodes. Her attempts to start over in Sherman, Wyoming take an interesting detour when a deputy sheriff ends up dead and she decides to play amateur sleuth.
+Almost a Bride
Six years ago, Matty Brennan’s life fell apart. She gave everything she had to Dave Currick. He was her world. Then he broke her heart. Matty has since gone back to Wyoming.
She intends to put her blood and sweat into saving the family ranch. Of course, when she first set her sights on the objective, she did not realize that saving her family’s ranch would mean asking Dave to marry her.
Dave knows that Matty has a trick up her sleeve. And he wants to be suspicious of her. But he also knows that Matty needs help and he is more than happy to assist her.
Dave has always done what was best for Matty. She has been the center of his life for as long as he can remember, and he is more than ready to marry her even if it’s in name only.
The first ‘Wyoming Wildflowers’ series follows a marriage-of-convenience plot in which a woman has to marry her ex-boyfriend in order to keep her family’s ranch safe. Dave broke up with Matty for no particular reason several years prior. But now Matty needs his help and that means swallowing her pride and asking him to marry her.
