Mary Kubica is a USA Today and New York Times bestselling author from America, who likes to write mystery, thriller, and suspense books. She is particularly well known for writing standalone books such as Pretty Baby, Every Last Lie, The Good Girl, Don’t You Cry, etc. Before the start of her writing career, author Kubica used to work as a history teacher at a high school. She has earned her BA degree from the Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Author Kubica has studied American Literature and History. She is happily married and resides along with her husband and a couple of children near Chicago. In addition to writing novels, author Kubica likes to indulge in gardening, caring for pet animals, and photography. Kubica’s love for pets, often compels her to visit local shelters and inquire about the health of the animals living there. The first book that author Kubica wrote in her career is called Good Girl. It was picked as an Indie Next in the year 2014 and then went on to be nominated for the Strand Critics Award in the category of the best debut book. An early book written by Mary Kubica is entitled ‘The Good Girl’. It was released by the Harlequin Mira publication in the year 2014. Author Kubica has set this book’s plot in Chicago and Minnesota, United States. The central characters mentioned in the story include Eve Dennett, Gabe Hoffman, Mia Dennett, Dalmar, Colin Thatcher, James Dennett, Ayanna Jackson, and Grace Dennett. This suspense novel is narrated by a man, who follows a girl for a few days. He finds out all the information about the girl, like where she is employed and where she purchases her grocery from. The man wishes to see the color of the girl’s eyes when he scares her. At the start of the story, it is depicted that Mia Dennett visits a bar one night to meet her on & off boyfriend. However, he does not turn up at the bar and Mia Dennett leaves with a stranger named Colin Thatcher. Mia seems totally unaware of the fact that she has made an unwise decision of going with the enigmatic Colin until she realizes it. At first, Mia Dennett finds Colin Thatcher a safe man to indulge in a one night stand. However, when she follows him to his home, she realizes that she has made the worst mistake of her life.

Colin is the same person, who has been keeping a track of all the activities of Mia. He has been following her at all the places she has gone. Now that he has become successful in having her by his side, he looks to do many things to her. Colin Thatcher hides Mia Dennett in a remote cabin located in the rural region of Minnesota. When Mia’s mother, Eve, learns that her daughter has not returned home from the bar, she informs detective Gabe Hoffman and asks for his help in finding her daughter. Hoffman assures Eve that he will find Mia at all costs and begins the investigation. Later, it is learned that Colin as employed by someone for carrying out the task of kidnapping Mia Dennett and handing her over to him. But, instead of doing so, Colin takes Mia to Minnesota. No one is able to predict the emotional entanglements related to the family, which results in the shattering of the world of Mia’s family. In the end, the novel turns out to be a tautly written and addictively suspenseful thriller penned by author Kubica. It marked the propulsive beginning of the author’s career and shows that sometimes nothing is what it seems in the perfect families also.

Another mind blowing book penned by Kubica is called ‘Every Last Lie’. This book was released by the Park Row publication in 2017. The chief characters of this book include Clara Solberg, Nick, Maisie, etc. At the beginning of the book’s story, it is depicted that Clara and Nick Solberg are happily married and have a 4 year old daughter named Maisie. Their world seems to be filled with happiness until it gets shattered due to a tragic car accident. At the time of the accident, Nick and Maisie were in the car. Clara Solberg is informed that Nick has died, while her daughter is remarkably alive without any signs of injury on her body. The police rule the crash as an accident and close the case. After a few days, Maisie starts getting terrible dreams at night and talks about the night the accident had happened. This makes Clara doubt as to what really had happened on the fateful night of the accident. She becomes obsessed with the belief that the death of Nick was not merely an accident. Tormented by her grief, she begins to look for the truth desperately. She wonders who would have wanted her husband dead and who has benefited the most after his death. Clara Solberg will not stop at anything to find out the truth the reality surrounding her husband’s shocking death. She knows that it is only the truth that can help her solve the twisted puzzle of deceit and secrets. Author Kubica has told the story in the form of alternating perspectives of the investigation of Clara Solberg and the last months of Nick up to the moment of the crash. Once again, author Kubica appears to have weaved a chilling thriller in her unique style. This thrilling novel gives the exploration of the dark recesses of a grief stricken mind. It also shows that some secrets are better if left buried.

    I’m 17 years old and haven’t read a book in so long I started one and then didn’t finish, I just read local woman missing and only took me 3 days to finish that book was all I could think about it gave me chills wondering the answers. ITS SO GOOD! And really well written!
